What is Excel’s Credit Transfer Policy?
Can I Transfer Credits to Excel High School?
Yes! Excel High School accepts transfer credits from accredited schools, allowing students to apply previously earned credits toward their diploma.
How Many Credits Can I Transfer?
- Students may transfer up to 75% of the required credits for graduation.
- At least 25% of credits must be completed at Excel High School to earn a diploma.
- This means students must take a minimum of 6 courses (or 5.5 credits) at Excel to meet graduation requirements.
Credit Transfer Limits Based on Diploma Track
- 21.5-Credit Graduation Track – Students can transfer up to 16 credits.
- 24-Credit Graduation Track – Students can transfer up to 18 credits.
- The remaining credits must be earned through Excel High School courses.
How to Submit Transfer Credits
- Request an official transcript from your previous school.
- Have the transcript sent directly to Excel High School at:
- Email: records@excelhighschool.com
- Fax: 952-465-3701
- Official credit evaluations occur after a student is enrolled (i.e., after completing a payment plan). Once enrolled, the academic team will review the transcript and determine which credits transfer.
What Types of Credits Can Be Transferred?
✅ Core subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies)
✅ Electives and foreign language courses
✅ Honors courses (if equivalent to Excel’s honors curriculum)
✅ Some career or technical education courses
What Cannot Be Transferred?
❌ Non-accredited coursework (such as homeschool curricula not evaluated by a recognized accrediting agency)
❌ Courses from unaccredited or non-traditional programs
❌ Incomplete or failing grades
How Long Does Credit Evaluation Take?
- Official credit evaluations only happen after a student has enrolled and completed a payment plan.
- Most transcript evaluations are completed within 5-7 business days after the official transcript is received.
- Once credits are approved, they will be added to the student’s record, and the student will be placed in the appropriate courses to complete their diploma.
Can I Transfer Credits to Another School After Attending Excel?
Excel High School is regionally accredited, meaning credits are widely accepted by other accredited schools. However, the receiving school has the final decision on whether they accept transferred credits. Students should check with their new school before transferring.
