Do You Have a Summer School Program?

Yes! Excel High School and Northgate Academy offer flexible, year-round "summer school" options. Unlike traditional programs limited to June through August, our online courses allow students to enroll anytime and work at their own pace—making it easy to recover credits, get ahead, or explore new subjects.

How Does the Summer School Program Work?

  • Students can enroll in single courses or multiple courses (up to three at a time).

  • Courses are 100% online and self-paced—start anytime and work on your schedule.

  • Once enrolled, students have up to six months to complete each course.

  • Open to both full-time and part-time students looking to supplement their education.

Note: This flexible program is ideal for credit recovery, getting ahead, or resolving schedule conflicts when a student’s primary school doesn’t offer a needed course.

Can I Take a Course for Enrichment?

Yes! Many students enroll in individual courses purely for enrichment, even if they don’t plan to transfer the credit. Enrichment courses offer the opportunity to:

  • Explore subjects not available at their current school, including unique electives.

  • Prepare for future coursework by getting ahead in subjects like foreign languages or advanced math.

  • Pursue personal interests in areas such as business, technology, or the arts.

Will My School Accept the Credit?

While students can take any à la carte course offered through Excel High School or Northgate Academy, it is up to their current school to accept the credit for transfer.

We strongly recommend that students and parents:

  • Speak with their school counselor or administration before enrolling.

  • Confirm credit transfer policies—requirements vary by school district.

  • Understand GPA policies—some schools allow credit recovery but may restrict retaking courses for grade improvement.

📌 Reminder: Some schools have strict policies on how credits transfer, particularly when retaking a course to improve a GPA. It is always best to check before enrolling to avoid any issues.
