Do You Have a Summer School Program?
Yes! Excel High School offers flexible, year-round summer school options, but unlike traditional summer school, our courses are not limited to June–August. Instead, students can enroll at any time and complete courses on their own schedule.
Our summer school program is actually an à la carte course option, allowing students to:
- Recover credits for failed courses (credit recovery).
- Get ahead by earning extra credits before the next school year.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts when their primary school does not offer a needed course.
How Does Summer School at Excel High School Work?
- Students can enroll in a single course or multiple courses (up to three at a time).
- Coursework is 100% online and self-paced—there is no set start or end date.
- Once enrolled, students have up to six months to complete their course.
- Open to full-time and part-time students looking to supplement their education.
Can I Take a Course for Enrichment?
Yes! Many students enroll in individual courses for enrichment, even if they are not taking the course for credit transfer. Enrichment courses allow students to:
- Explore subjects not available at their current school, such as specialized electives.
- Prepare for future coursework by getting ahead in subjects like foreign languages or advanced math.
- Pursue personal interests in areas like business, technology, or the arts.
Will My School Accept the Credit?
Students can take any course offered at Excel High School as an à la carte option, but it is up to the receiving school to accept the credit.
We strongly recommend that students and parents:
- Speak with their school counselor or administration before enrolling.
- Confirm credit transfer policies, as rules vary by school district.
- Understand GPA policies, as some schools allow credit recovery for failed courses but may have restrictions on retaking courses to improve grades.
Some schools have strict policies on how credits transfer, particularly when retaking a course to improve a GPA. It is always best to check before enrolling to avoid any issues.
